Position Summary

Nampa Highway District No. 1 is seeking a dependable Truck Driver / Laborer to join our Road Crew. This full-time position performs manual labor and operates commercial trucks and roadway maintenance equipment to support road construction, maintenance, and snow removal operations. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, able to perform physically demanding tasks, and able to work independently or as part of a team.

Essential Duties

• Operate Class A diesel dump trucks, pup trailers, snowplows, sanding trucks, boom trucks, and other highway maintenance vehicles.
• Load, haul, spread, and dump materials such as gravel, asphalt, sand, and dirt.
• Assist with road construction and maintenance, including grading, pothole repair, chip sealing, road rebuilding, shoulder maintenance, and drainage work.
• Operate heavy equipment (loaders, graders, rollers, excavators) as assigned with training.
• Assist with traffic control by placing cones, barricades, signs, and flagging traffic to maintain safe work zones.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance and inspections on trucks, tools, and equipment.
• Participate in snow removal and emergency response, including after-hours, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Respond to emergencies within 60 minutes when on-call, including downed signs, storm damage, or roadway hazards.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Road Foreman or district management.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid Idaho Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with N (tanker) endorsement, required.
• Good driving record and insurable under district policy.
• Experience operating commercial Class A dump trucks, heavy equipment, or performing road maintenance preferred; training provided.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting, bending, shoveling, raking, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, snow, rain, wind, and occasional wildfire smoke.
• Upon receiving a conditional job offer, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check and meet all applicable DOT/CDL testing requirements.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and participate in rotating on-call schedule for snow and emergency response.

Work Schedule

• Monday–Thursday, 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
• 10 Federal holidays off
• Occasional after-hours/on-call duties

Physical Requirements

Work requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, operating trucks and equipment, and performing physically demanding tasks in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions.
